Teddy's story

Teddy's owner passed away and no family member could take a large dog. He arrived confused and off his food, and spent his first nights curled against the kennel door listening for a familiar voice.

Three weeks of quiet routine brought him back. He now leans into every hand, walks gently on the lead and settles for hours with a chew. He is the easiest dog in the shelter — staff fight over who takes him home for weekends.

Good to know

  • Fully house-trained, quiet at night
  • Gentle on the lead, ignores traffic
  • Tested friendly with cats
  • Loves brushing and slow fuss

Daily care at a glance

  • Two gentle 30-minute walks a day
  • Daily brush to keep the coat matt-free
  • Weight-watching diet — roughly £55 a month
  • Annual boosters, joint checks with age

Ideal home

Ideal for a quieter household, first-time owners or retirees. Flat possible with lift and nearby green.

  2. 2. Home check. A short visit or video call to confirm space, setup and routine suit a Dog · Golden retriever.
  3. 3. Homecoming. Sign, pay the fee, and take Teddy home with food, records and a month of message support.
